Update on the Pyro

Since posting about my little pyro a.k.a. Christian I have learned that playing with fire is a boy thing. Every mom I have shared my story with has been appropriately shocked, yet every man I shared this with said, "Oh yeah, well that's what boys do." I work at the YMCA in the weight room from 5am to 8am Mon.-Thurs. and this is a time when mostly men come in and work out.
It was quite interesting to hear about the things these men have caught on fire and my terribly shocking experience didn't phase them at all. So I guess as a mother of 2 boys this is one of those mysteries that I will have to learn about.

This is what I want to know:
  1. What is it about boys and fire...why do they want to burn things?
  2. How can I let my sons be the wild things that God created them to be while insuring that nothing expensive or valuable(i.e. my house and family) gets damaged in the process?
  3. What else is coming down the pike that I will look at my son and wonder what ever possessed him to do something like this?

Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Me and my brother found a bunch of old 12 gauge shotgun shells. We knew that there had to be black powder in them, so we took a hammer (HELLO!!!) and started banging on the brass ends hoping to dismantle the shells. Nothing blew up (grace of God) and we got the powder out. We laid it out in an intricate pattern thinking it would burn up slowly (like in the movies) and look really neat. Did you know that black powder kind of combusts all at once in a big clowd of fire and smoke??? Neither did we. Anyway, eyebrows grow back eventually, and cats can be easily replaced (just kidding). But to answer your question, fire's cool man!! Why just have fun, when you could be having fun blowing things up? As for other things coming down the pike, you live in Texas so I know you've got guns. You keep 'em locked up right???????

Jimmy, you mentioned that eyebrows grow back...How's your brother? haha
Liz, Ian liked to ride his bicycle through the fire pits when we were camping, he also liked to catch scorpions. I don't know if this is in the future for your boys but it is not a pleasant experience. Ask Andrea!!!
